CIPS - Loyalist November 2009 LUNCHEON

Our topic this month for our Trends and Changes in ICT Series is “A move to a Smarter Grid”

TOPIC: “The move to a Smarter Grid - the convergence of  ICT and energy sectors.  ”

gnb

Speaker: David Duplisea, Smart Grid Project Lead,  New Brunswick Department of Energy

Event Overview –  It has been said that the Smart Grid, or "Smarter Grid "as it is often referred to, will be the largest initiative ever to affect the ICT industry. Its affect on the ICT sector is equal if not larger in scale than the affect that the internet had on the communications industry.  In one sense, it is the convergence of the ICT and the energy sectors. In his presentation, Duplisea will discuss the drivers behind this initiative and the Government’s strategy to identify opportunities that allow the provincial ICT industry to take advantage of these opportunities and define possible entry points thorough the creation of a Smart Grid Roadmap.
